Her Artistic
Journey
She was born in the Citadel neighborhood of Cairo to her father, Sayed
Mohamed Abdel Wahab, a designer, and her mother, a homemaker. She has a brother
and a sister. Her singing talent emerged in school, where her teacher
discovered her and convinced her mother to take her to Selim Sahab, the
conductor of the Cairo Opera House orchestra. Shereen sang for him, and he was
impressed by her voice. She then joined the choir at the Cairo Opera House. She
began her artistic career in early 2002 with the song "Ah Ya Leil,"
but it wasn't her first song. She had appeared with singer Mohamed Mohie in a
duet titled "Bahibak" in 2000, which was included on Mohie's album
"Sora wa Dam'a." However, her real breakthrough came with Tamer
Hosny, who was also a newcomer at the time, in their joint album "Free Mix
3" in the summer of 2002, which sold 20 million copies across the Middle
East and North Africa. She also acted in a film alongside Ahmed Helmy in
"Mido Mashakel." Nasr Mahrous's Free Music was her first production
company. However, due to some disagreements between the two, their contract was
terminated. Sherine also achieved great success in television drama with the
series "Tareeqi," which captivated audiences during Ramadan. The
series also won the award for Best Drama Series at the Tunisian Radio and
Television Festival.
Her family life
She was married
to music arranger Medhat Khamis; then she married composer and music arranger
Mohamed Mostafa in 2007, with whom she has two daughters, Maryam and Hanaa.
However, she separated from him in 2012 after a marriage that lasted five
years. She married singer Hossam Habib on April 7, 2018, in a wedding attended
only by family members. In December 2021, she announced her divorce from
him.
