Abbas Kamel (1957 ) is a military commander with the rank of major general and an Egyptian politician. He is currently the head of the General Intelligence Service, and previously held the position of director of the office of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, since his work in Military Intelligence through his position in the Ministry of Defense until his assumption of the presidency. On January 18, 2018, he was assigned to run the work of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service, and on June 28, 2018, he was sworn in as head of the agency.
Scientific Qualification
- He graduated from the Military College in 1978 as an officer in the Armored Corps.
- He received the Advanced Armor Course from the United States of America
- Obtained the necessary scientific qualification from courses, mandatory teams, and courses for senior commanders in the armed forces.
- He completed a course on the work strategy of military attaches from the Geneva Institute for Security Policy.
Career
- He was appointed assistant to the Egyptian Defense Attaché in the Czech Republic.
- He rose to positions in the Military Intelligence and Reconnaissance Department in the Military
- Attaches Branch, until he assumed the presidency of the branch. He held the position of Director of the Office of the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in 2012.
- He served as Director of the Office of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in 2014. He was appointed as acting head of the General Intelligence Service in addition to his work in January 2018.
- He was appointed head of the General Intelligence Service in June 2018.
