When he joined the Faculty of Commerce to study there, he was attracted by the university's acting troupe, and he was impressed by the theatrical works it presented on the university's stage, so he decided to form an amateur theater group called "The Alliance of Working People's Forces", because it included some workers and craftsmen, in addition to his fellow students, A trend that was not used in that period, but the band succeeded in drawing attention to it, through which, as an actor and director, he presented a number of theatrical performances by the great writers of that period, including “Ah Ya Country” by Saad Eddin Wahba and “Askar and Haramiya” by Alfred Faraj. . With his preoccupation with theatrical work, Salah Abdullah decided to leave politics, especially after his success in writing poems for a number of plays in which he worked in small roles, including "The Green Military", starring comedian Sayed Zayan. The artist Salah Abdullah recalls those beginnings by saying: “I owe thanks to my discovery of director Shaker Abdel Latif, who introduced me in the play “Rabaa Al-Adawiya.” Then he nominated me to join the “Studio 80” group, which was formed by the artist Mohamed Sobhi and the author Lenin Al-Ramli.
