Najah El-Mouji (June 11, 1945 - September 25, 1998), an Egyptian comedian, is the unforgettable laughing mark in the history of cinema, theater and television. He was born in the village of Mit El Karma, affiliated to Talkha Center, Dakahlia Governorate. His real name is Abdel Moati Mohamed El Mougy. He borrowed the name (Najah) from his older brother's name in gratitude for his support and encouragement.
He obtained his bachelor’s degree from the Higher Institute of Social Work. El-Mouji started his life with the theater trio in the late sixties, when director Mohamed Salem and artist George Sidhom assigned him an important role in the play “The Hotel of Hard Labor” in 1969. El-Mouji enriched the television and cinema screens with his comedic works. From which he left a great asset, especially in the theater, the most important of which is his role in the series Welcome to the Population in 1984. He graduated from the Higher Institute of Social Service and did not leave his job in this field in addition to his work in the field of art until Najah held the position of First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture.
He presented a successful radio program entitled "Caricature Theatre" after he left the Trio Adwaa Al-theater group, as the roles that were attributed to him did not satisfy him at all, and he returned again after failing to enroll in the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts.
He started his artistic activities from the theater of the Higher Institute of Social Service and issued a cassette tape containing six songs to "Al-Mouji", but the censors refused to distribute it at the time, despite his talent for delivering monologues.
“Al-Mouji” participated with 150 artworks during his artistic journey, and the most famous artworks by “Al-Muji,” four on an official mission, Al-Hareef, Tata, Rika and Kazem Bey, Al-Thawwah, the sea laughs at him, Kit Kat, and the family, money, welcome residents, the secret of the land, Al-Halawani Gate, do not blame him, Munim, the married ones, Dala’ Al-Hawanam, the heirs, the king of the Shahati.”
His real breakthrough on the stage was after his embodiment of the character “Al-Wad Musica” in the play “The Married People”, which achieved great success, which transferred “Al-Mouji” from the secondary actor’s area to the co-starring roles, but after his success in the married, he continued to refuse secondary roles until he sat without work for four years
He stood before the investigation authorities in the nineties after his mockery of the artist Angham during the play "No blame, Monem", in which he ridiculed many artists, including Angham, who called it "Mine", and accused him of insulting. The artist Najah Al-Mouga also faced many artistic crises With censorship, the most important of which was his statements against the National Democratic Party during the screening of the movie "The Extension", and his departure from the text in his theatrical works.
The series “Welcome Welcome Residents” is considered a breakthrough in television, and its real beginning in the world of cinema was in the movie “Days of Rage”, for which it won the International Jury Prize at the Damascus Film Festival.
He has two daughters, one of whom is an Egyptian TV presenter, Aiten El Mougy, who lived with her father for the last hours of his life.
The comedian Abdel Moti Mohamed El Mougy, "Najah El Mougy," died at dawn on Friday 25 September 1998 in Cairo at the age of 53, after a sudden heart attack after returning to his home from the theater where he was playing his role in the play My Terrible Sidi.
