Amr Waked

Amr Waked born April 12, 1973  is an Egyptian theater and film actor who has participated in many local and international artworks.

He began his career in 1990, but his fame increased after 2005 when he co-starred with international star George Clooney in the movie Syriana, along with his participation in many other international works, including the British-American series Saddam's House, the Italian movie The Father and the Stranger, and the American movie Lucy. Amr benefited from his studies of economics at the American University in his choices and organization of his time, as if setting an economic schedule for his film career.


During his studies, Amr joined the theater team at the university, and worked on graduation projects for his colleagues in the directing department, so he presented “Carmen”, “Afrat Hamza and Fatima” by Rasha El-Gamal and “Oedips”, in addition to several other works by director Abdel Hadi El-Gazzar and Ahmed El-Attar. He also joined the actor’s preparation workshop at the university for two years. And half a year, and won several awards at the university level. It was presented by Hani Khalifa to director Osama Fawzy, who was assigned a role in the movie Paradise of the Devils, then Waheed Hamed presented it in the movie “Del Al Samaka” in which he won the award for Best Supporting Actor from the Alexandria Festival. Idris and directed by Marwan Hamed. That film won the Audience Award at a festival in France dedicated to short films. It also won the Ismailia Festival award, and the second prize at the Tunis Festival. Amr also played a small role in the movie “Ashabs wa La Business” directed by Ali Idris.  


His political activity
 
 Amr Waked is among the first artists who participated in the January 25 revolution since its first day, when he took to the streets with the rest of the Egyptian people, then headed at a later time towards Tahrir Square and participated in the demonstrations that brought down the Hosni Mubarak regime, which ruled Egypt for more than 30 years.
