Ahmed Zaki

 Ahmed Zaki Abdel Rahman (November 18, 1949 - March 27, 2005), a late Egyptian actor and producer, was born in the city of Zagazig and received a Bachelor's degree from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, acting and directing department, in 1973, with honors.



His first appearance was in the play Hamada and Maha in 1967 while he was studying at the institute (he was imitating the artist Mahmoud El-Meligy), and his first appearance on the cinema screen was in the movie “My Son” in 1972 in front of the artist Farid Shawqi. It was his first absolute starring role in front of Soad Hosni in the movie Shafiqa and Metwally in 1978 and then presented many prominent films. Ahmed Zaki is considered the third most actor in the list of the 100 best Egyptian films in 1996, where he has six films on the list: The Innocent, The Wife of an Important Man, Love Over the Pyramid Hill, Alexandria Les, Dreams of Hind and Camelia And Sons of Silence, Ahmed Zaki won several awards and honors, including the Cairo Film Festival in 1990 and the Alexandria Festival in 1989.

Ahmed Zaki died on March 27, 2005 after a long struggle with lung cancer, and he had not finished completing the rest of the filming of Halim, which was his last film, and the film was shown after his death in 2006.

His upbringing and life

He was born in the city of Zagazig, and he was the only son of his father, who died after his birth. His mother remarried after the death of her husband. His grandfather raised him. He received middle school and then entered the industrial school, where he was encouraged by the school principal who loved the theater, and at the school ceremony a group of artists from Cairo were invited. They met him and advised him to join the Institute of Dramatic Arts, and while studying at the institute, he worked in the play "Hello Shalaby". He graduated from the institute in 1973, and was the first in his class. He worked in the theater in successful popular works, such as the rioters school, our children in London and the children grew up, and on television he starred in the series “Al-Ayyam” and “He and She” series, and the movie “I do not lie, but I beautify.” And many other films for which he won many awards. He married the late actress Hala Fouad, with whom he had his only son, Haitham.

His artistic career

He won his first prize for the movie "Bird on the Road". On the screen, Ahmed Zaki starred in the characters of the poor class, far from the personality of the Turkish effendi, and each time he presented a more honest face to the authentic Egyptian. He embodied the character of President Gamal Abdel Nasser in the movie Nasser 56, the character of President Muhammad Anwar Sadat in the film The Days of Sadat, the character of the Dean of Arabic literature Taha Hussein in the series Al-Ayyam, and the character of the Dark Nightingale Abdel Halim Hafez in the film Halim.

He married the late retired artist Hala Fouad, and they had their only son, Haitham Ahmed Zaki, who participated with his father and embodied the character of Abdel Halim the young man in the film Halim, but they separated before her death.
